일원상

 

일원상[○]의 일원一圓은 소태산 대종사가 깨달은 진리에 대하여 붙여진 진리의 대명사다. 그리고 일원상은 진리의 상징이다.
소태산 대종사는 을 신앙의 대상이자 수행의 표본으로 삼으라 했다. 또 실제 생활에서의 자세를 아래와 같이 제시했다.

 

첫째는 일원상을 대할 때마다 견성 성불하는 화두話頭를 삼을 것이요, 
둘째는 일상생활에 일원상과 같이 원만하게 수행하여 나아가는 표본으로삼을 것이며, 
셋째는 이 우주 만유 전체가 죄복罪福을 직접 내려주는 사실적 권능이 있는 것을 알아서 진리적으로 믿어 나아가는 대상을 삼을 것.

이와 같이 소태산 대종사의 깨달음과 가르침이 있으므로 원불교에 입문한 사람은 진리의 상징인 일원상을 신앙의 대상과 수행의 표본으로 삼는다.
 

○ 은 ‘법신불 일원상法身佛 一圓相’ 또는 ‘진리 부처님’이라고도 한다. 그리고 소태산 대종사는 이 법신불 일원상의 실체를 ‘은혜’로 천명하였으며, 그 은혜의 내역內譯을 천지, 부모, 동포, 법률로 구분하여 사은四恩으로 밝혔다.

 

Il-Won (一圓) of Il-Won-Sang is the pronoun of truth given to the truth that the Founding Master Sotaesan realized. And Il-Won-Sang is the symbol of truth.
The Founding Master Sotaesan said to enshrine ○ as the object of faith and the model for practice. Besides, he suggested the attitude to apply that truth in our real lives as below.

First, each time you encounter the Il-Won-Sang, you will take it as a hwadu for seeing the nature and attaining buddhahood.
Second, you will take it as a model in order to keep on practicing consummately in your ordinary lives, like Il-Won-Sang.

 As above, as there are awakening and teaching of the Founding Master, those who enter in Won-Buddhism take the Il-Won-Sang, a symbol of truth as the object of faith and the model of practice.

○ is said as ‘Dharmakaya Buddha Il-Won-Sang (法身佛 一圓相)’ or ‘Truth Buddha’. And the Founding Master announced the real essence of Dharmakaya buddha Il-Won-Sang as 'Grace' and stated that grace as 'Fourfold Grace' by dividing into 4 categories such as Heaven and Earth, Parents, Fellow beings, and Laws.
